| A popular home improvement project in Newport News is sun rooms and deck additions. We spoke with Lou Marks from the Department of Codes Compliance. Lou told us that the problem with sun rooms is that because the walls are mostly glass, there is not enough structural bracing. The current code in Newport News is not helpful with this issue, although they are working on this. There are some helpful sites on the Internet that can help you with your structural issue.
